Karen Judy, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 29, 2021, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Karen Faye Rumsey Judy was born March 8, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to George Blaine Rumsey and Fern Marian Andrew Rumsey. Her early childhood years were spent in Kilgore, Idaho. She gathered arrowheads while moving cows between pastures, rode a horse or in a sleigh to school, fished in the streams, gathered eggs from the chickens daily, and was baptized in the creek. She then attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Shelley High School. After graduation, she attended Beauty School for a short time, and then started working at the Bank of Eastern Idaho.
On March 3, 1961, she married Doyle D Judy in the Idaho Falls Temple. Karen and Doyle made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where she was a talented homemaker and mother to six children.
She assisted in farm work on the valley farm east of Ammon and the dry farm in Ozone where she drove the grain trucks, tractors, and milked and herded cows. Later on, she worked in interior design and designed window treatments and other home decor for many clients and home shows in the Idaho Falls and surrounding area.
Karen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served devotedly in many capacities, including Relief Society teacher and president, Young Women’s counselor and teacher, as well as camp director. She loved serving in the temple and worked as an ordinance worker for many years. She especially loved serving missions with her husband, Doyle. They served in the German Extraction program; in the Palmyra, New York mission as facilities caretakers; and was serving as a Family History missionary in the final years of her life. She also loved participating with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and singing with the Ammon 7th Ward choir and sextet.
She loved getting together with family and friends for ordinary days, special occasions, and every event. She enjoyed family history work, sewing, crocheting, gardening, home decorating, and music.
Karen is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Doyle Judy of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughters: Lexine Saunders (David) of Rexburg, Idaho; Karadean Grayson (Steve) of Ammon, Idaho; JoLyn Dahl (Jason) of Labelle, Idaho; Anese Harmon (Neil) of Provo, Utah; sons: Claine Judy (Deanna) of Pocatello, Idaho; and Kendal Judy (Marla) of Labelle, Idaho; 29 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren; brothers: Doyle Rumsey and Michael Rumsey; and sister, Jan Shelby.
