Karen Ora Larsen, 80, of Rigby, passed away August 19, 2023, at Tambree Meadows Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. The family would like to thank all of her caregivers, as they all loved her so much. Her kindness and smile could light up any room.
Karen was born September 22, 1942, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to John "Jack" Henry Hall and Mona Ivene Allred Hall. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1960. She then attended Vogue Beauty College.
On December 23, 1961, she married her childhood sweetheart, Terrell (Terry) Ray Larsen, in Idaho Falls. Karen and Terry made homes in Albuquerque, NM; Mountain Home, ID; Idaho Falls, ID; and finally settled in Rigby, ID, on Larsen farm land.
Karen worked as a hairdresser for 32 years. Many will remember her salon, Karen's Hair Corner, which she ran from the basement of her's and Terry's home in Idaho Falls from 1979 until she retired at the age of 52.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Eagles Lodge #576. She enjoyed scrapbooking, bird watching, camping, and especially dancing. As a young girl, she was one of very few who mastered "toe-tap" ballet.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Terry Larsen of Rigby, ID; son, John Todd (Melissa) Larsen of Blackfoot, ID; daughter, Yvette Monica (Kevin) Lundquist of Idaho Falls, ID; brothers, Thomas (Fern) Hall of Idaho Falls, Dennis Hall of Swan Valley, ID, and Doug (Jolene) Hall of Idaho Falls, ID; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lori Fife; father-in-law, John Larsen; mother-in-law, Wanda Larsen; step mother-in-law, Jeanne Larsen; and brother-in-law, Robert Larsen.
In remembrance of Karen, a visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Eagles Lodge, 635 Hemmert Avenue in Idaho Falls. Lunch will be served. Come as you are, casual dress. Please use the East entrance.
