Karen Louise Halkar, 63, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 26, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society - Idaho Falls Village. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
Karen was born March 31, 1953, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, to Fred Christian Halkar and Eunice Helen Lefferts Halkar. She grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Linden Park Elementary, Clair E. Gale Junior High, and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She also attended Eastern Idaho Vo-Tech.
On February 15, 1973, she married Kenneth James Rogerson and they were later divorced. She married Marvin LeRoy Scoville and he preceded her in death. She married Richard Dale "Rick" Evans and he preceded her in death. She married Kelly Wyatt and they were later divorced. Karen made her home in Idaho Falls and worked as a baker and decorator for Carston’s Bakery and Albertsons.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church and later became a Buddhist. She enjoyed sewing, baking, quilting, classic cars - serving as secretary of EIEIO, gardening, and crafts. She loved her grandchildren and family and adored her pets, Max, Desiree, Piggy, and Blue.
Karen is survived by four children, Jeanette (Leo) Leal of Nampa, ID, Camile Gamino of Idaho Falls, ID, Nicole (Carlos) Scoville-Arreola of Bozeman, MT, and Ty Christian (Paris) Evans of Bend, OR, three siblings, Harry (Vickie) Halkar of St. Anthony, ID, Linda Carter (Lynn) Beck of Idaho Falls, ID, and Howard Halkar of Idaho Falls, ID, 12 grandchildren: Adan, Jesse, Adriana, Jose, Jaidrian, Jasmine, Julie, Daniel, Carlos, Abigail, Tyger, and Ryleigh, and many nieces and nephews.
She also had many ‘children’ that considered her Mom and Grandma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eunice Halkar, her husbands, Marvin Scoville and Rick Evans, and a granddaughter, Niticia Rogerson.
Karen had an abundance of love to share with everyone she met and made lifelong friends.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016, at the Hitt Events Center, 3441 North 25th East. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Karen Halkar Memorial Fund at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Avenue).
