Karen Russell Daniel

Karen Alice Russell Daniel, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away on August 4, 2021, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with her children by her side. She was born on June 24, 1944, in Soda Springs, Idaho, to John T. Harwood and Clara Irene Harwood. She grew up in Grace and Pocatello, Idaho and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1962.

Karen married Kenneth DeLynn Russell on April 12, 1963, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with six children: Lori, Mindy, Pam, Doug, Scott, and Wendy. She devoted her life to her children and loved them very much. DeLynn and Karen were later divorced.

She married Dayle Wayne Daniel on August 7, 1992, in Salmon, Idaho, on the 9th hole of the Salmon golf course.

Karen worked at the Idaho National Laboratory for over 30 years, creating many close friends.

Karen was talented in many different areas. She loved cooking and spent countless hours in the kitchen showing her love to others through her famous rolls, cinnamon rolls, and many other dishes. She loved reading cookbooks, always looking for the next best recipe. She was a gifted seamstress and created beautiful quilts for her family. She was an extremely talented artist and has many oil paintings that she shared with loved ones. Being blessed with a green thumb, when she wasn’t in the kitchen, she could be found weeding, harvesting, and fussing over her bounteous garden, thus resulting in delicious canned treats throughout the year.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout the years.

Karen is survived by her children: Lori Russell of San Diego, CA; Mindy (Brad) Renfro of Idaho Falls, ID; Pam (Jeff) Bleyl of Idaho Falls, ID; Doug (Katie) Russell of Idaho Falls, ID; Scott (Anna) Russell of Ucon, ID; and Wendy (Trevor) Thomas of Idaho Falls, ID; and two brothers, Neal (Olive) Harwood of Idaho Falls, ID and Dennis Harwood of Palmer, AK.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren:  Keegan (Kimberley) Renfro, Kasey Renfro, Kelby Renfro, Kade (McKenzie) Packer, Macady Russell (Brandal Page), Dylan Russell, Elizabeth Russell, Kiara Renfro, Ethan Russell, Tanner Russell, Halle Thomas, McKay Russell, Zaylee Thomas, and Whitlee Thomas; and 1 great-grandchild, Everleigh Page.
