Kade Keyes

Kade Cushman Bassett Keyes, 32, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016, at his home in Piketon, Ohio. Kade was born January 15th, 1984, to Roy and Elwyn Keyes at Riverside Hospital in Idaho Falls. He quickly formed lifelong bonds with older sisters Kristin and Kelsey.

Kade lived most of his life in Idaho Falls. He attended Temple View Elementary, Eagle Rock Junior High School, and graduated from Skyline High School in 2002. He attended Eastern Idaho Technical College where he earned Associate Degrees in Web Design and Radiation Safety.

Kade loved all things Scottish, including dressing up in his authentic kilt, as well as wild hats and listening to Weird Al Yankovic, Tenacious D, and The Dropkick Murphys. He was quite knowledgeable about beer and mixing drinks. He loved animals, especially his two cats. He was a big Red Sox fan and liked going to Idaho Falls Chukars games with family and friends. He enjoyed ice hockey, playing when he was a child. He was the family techie for computers, and the family advisor on the latest movies and new restaurants. He was a loving uncle, spending time with his nephews playing board and video games, exploring baseball parks, and heading out to the local playground.

Kade was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon. Kade took a high school trip to Russia and enjoyed family trips to Europe, Mexico and sailing on a tall ship in the Caribbean. He and family enjoyed annual visits to Island Park/Yellowstone as well as trips to numerous western National Parks, Florida, Arizona, California, Oregon and Cape Cod.

Kade worked at McDonald's, the Idaho Falls Public Library, Walmart and Idahoan Foods. In June of 2015, he moved to Piketon, Ohio to work as a Radiological Control Technician at the U.S. Department of Energy PORTS (Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant) for subcontractor Advanced Technology Laboratories–work he really enjoyed.

He is survived by his parents Roy Walter and Elwyn Maude (Clough) Keyes; sisters Kristin Elizabeth Elwyn (Keyes) Olson and Kelsey Ann Clough Keyes; nephews Connor and Brendan Olson, and Walter and Felix Keyes; brothers-in-law Michael Olson and Bradley Iverson-Long; aunts and uncles Robert and Nancy (Keyes) Smith, Douglas and Laurie (Clough) Rupp, and Dale Clough; and many cousins.
