Stevens, 69, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, went to be with Jesus on December 5, 2008, at Syringa Chalet Nursing Home of Blackfoot from complications due to Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born December 7, 1938, in Downy, Idaho, the oldest son of Raymond Ernst Stevens and Mary Agnes Denton Stevens Jennings. He grew up and attended schools in Ammon. On Valentine's Day, 1958, he married Gwen Denning in Ammon. Together they raised six children. He worked as a brick mason and was also the owner of S & S Tree Service. J. R. loved hunting, fishing, and camping, as well as dancing, horse shows, listening to country music, and especially spending time with his family. Survivors include: Wife: Gwen Stevens Son: Rodney T. Stevens, Idaho Falls Daughter: Gaylynn (Carl) Carlson, Idaho Falls Son: Dee (Tammy) Stevens, Idaho Falls Daughter: Raela (Tony) Jenkins, Nampa, ID Daughter: Carrie (Frank)Parkinson, Idaho Falls Brother: William Stevens. Blackfoot 7 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mary and Shirley; two brothers, Ronnie and Donald; and two sons, Clint and Paul. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Reverend Rose Marie Denning officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday one hour prior to services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. ---------------------------------------------
