June Fiedler passed peacefully with a smile on her face on May 2, 2015, at 91 years young. She reunited with her parents, Junius and Mildred Emma Hampton, her ten brothers and sisters and their spouses, her husband Art Fiedler, and daughter, Merile Todd, and son-in-law, Sonny Weigel.
Born August 31, 1923, in Los Angeles, California, she grew up in Ogden, Utah, Idaho Falls and Shelley, Idaho. June went through elementary and high school years in Idaho. From being a young wife until her later years, she was extremely resourceful in making a very low budget spread enough to make her kids always feel equal. She could create almost anything on her sewing machine, put a new coat of paint on the many houses she lived in, always had fresh bread baking, and supper on the table at 5:30 every night.
June worked at French’s for several years during the 70’s, along with both daughters Sherry and Brenda, and endured the challenges of shift work.
She loved her home in Ammon and was most proud of her flower gardens and big yard. The day before she passed, she spent the day in her swing, enjoying watching Brenda plant the many flowers in ‘her’ garden. A more perfect final scene could not have been written.
June leaves so many wonderful and treasured memories to her five children – Sherry Weigel (Sonny, deceased) of Denver, CO; Larry Fiedler (Priscella) of Atomic City, ID; Debbie Catania (Charlie) of Las Vegas, NV; David Fiedler of Ammon, ID; and Brenda Fiedler of Ammon, ID; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren; along with many more treasured special grandkids and great-grandkids.
There is little doubt to all who knew her that our immeasurable loss is Heaven’s gain. One son-in-law described her as the only person he knew who had no ego – she encompassed pureness, selflessness, compassion and acceptance of all she met.
She loved family, babies, flowers, her swing, rides in the country, Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, fried shrimp, Taco Bell, and especially the clam chowder at Sandpiper.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff and residents at Parkwood Assisted Living for their help in caring for our sweet mother.
