June Maurer Couch, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 28, 2016, at her home. She was under the care of her family and Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
June was born June 7, 1924, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Daniel Frederick Maurer and Sarah Elizabeth Sainsbury Maurer. She lived in Blackfoot, Idaho, on a family farm and Gardner, Montana, where her father worked for the Yellowstone Park Hotel Company. She attended high school in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School in 1942.
On August 14, 1948, she married Jack Joseph Couch in Idaho Falls, and they later were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born eight children: Robert, Bruce, Kathy, Jackie, Julie, Joann, Brad and Sharon. June and Jack made their home in Idaho Falls, where June was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in numerous callings. She was especially active in the Youth and Relief Society organizations. She and Jack served together as missionaries in the California, San Bernardino Mission from 1991-1993. She enjoyed hiking, gardening, cooking, canning, quilting, sewing and reading. The true love of her life was her family--her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
June is survived by her son, Robert (Bobette) Couch of Saint Thomas, USVI; son, Bruce (Heidy) Couch of Draper, UT; daughter, Kathy (Larry) Conrad of Kirtland, WA; daughter, Jackie (Bill) Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Julie (Cody) Purcell of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Joann Cline of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Brad (Rozie) Couch of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Maling of Hillsboro, OR; and 41 grandchildren and 72 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters; one brother; and a granddaughter, Melanie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at the Idaho Falls LDS 28th Ward Chapel (1165 Azalea). The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
