Juanita “Nita” Poormon Case, 88, of Iona, Idaho, finally burst into Heaven to meet her husband after 24 years without him, on October 14, 2023.
Nita was born November 22, 1934, in Idaho Falls, to George and Iola Poormon. She attended elementary schools in Idaho and Oregon. She was the first class graduating from Idaho Falls High School in its new building.
Out and about with her girlfriends one night they ran into a carload of boys. One in particular was flirting with her. She told him to ‘put an egg in his shoe and beat it.’ He didn’t. Robert ‘E’ Case and Nita married on July 20, 1954, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They had four children, Kevin, Bruce, Tammy and Brett. They were later sealed as a family in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 20, 1966.
To help make ends meet she went to work at Ucon Produce. She then got on at Riverview Hospital as a Ward Clerk. As she moved up into administration she would work at Riverview and Parkview Hospitals. They became Idaho Falls consolidated hospitals and eventually Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She and Bob bought a cabin in Island Park and it became their heaven on earth. She was by her sister Della, and lasting friends were made at church and in their neighborhood.
Bob would be at the hospital to pick her up and they would head to the cabin to enjoy every weekend. Due to Bobs health she decided to retire after 26 years of dedicated hard work at the hospital and enjoy the cabin full time.
She was a life long, dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When Bob passed away she moved to Iona, Idaho, where her sons built her a house across the street from her daughter. There she kept busy knitting, crafting, and painting with her buddy, Joan.
She was so thrilled to be a part of modern technology and have an iPad to receive daily pictures of her family and was a great fan of FaceTime. She always had a project in her hands. Her home is decorated in paintings all painted by her and Bob. Needlework covers the walls. Her hands were never empty. She was still trying to complete her last baby hat to donate this last week. Because she loved her children and grandchildren she tried to stay. But she missed Bob more, so she had to go. She is having a blast.
Nita is survived by her children, Kevin (Barbara) Case of Shelley, ID, Bruce (Merodene) Case of Idaho Falls, ID, Tammy (Jim) Nielsen of Iona, ID, Brett (Melody) Case of Idaho Falls, ID, aka the Golden child; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Case and Frances Case, both of Idaho Falls, ID; brother-in-law, Gary Kerbs of Idaho Falls, ID; best buddies, Elaine Robinson and Joan Ralphs; bother-in-law, Gary Kerbs;17 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
