Joyzelle Eleanor "Joy" Holleman Sterling, 90, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away February 25, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Joy was born February 13, 1926, in Orange, Texas, to Arthur Charles Holleman and Ella Radcliff Holleman. She grew up and attended schools in Orange and graduated from Orange High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree as a Registered Nurse from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. In 1945, she was honored to be named Miss Port Arthur, Miss Orange, and Miss Beaumont, Texas. On November 29, 1946, she married Ray Eli Sterling in Port Arthur, Texas. To this union were born two children, Joyzelle and Ray, Jr. Joy and Ray were lucky enough to live all over the world: Italy, The Netherlands, Japan, Colombia, and in the southern United States, to name a few. Joy worked as a nurse, but was always happiest to be a wife and mother. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church and served as a lay missionary all over the world. She also taught Sunday School. Joy enjoyed puzzles, southern cooking, playing AC Deucey, and being with her family. Joy is survived by her daughter, Joyzelle Iverson of Ammon, ID; five grandchildren, Joseph (Lynette) Iverson, Robert Sterling, Brix (Kym) Iverson, Michelle Sterling, and Porsche (Dustin) Sessions; and six great grandchildren, Trey Sessions, Hunter Sessions, Taryn Sessions, Bair Iverson, Jinnie Peake, and Ray Hunter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Ray Eli Sterling, Jr.; and three brothers, AC, Darold, and Sydney Holleman. Private Family Services will be held.
