Joyce (Ward) Russell

Joyce B Russell, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 2, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was under the care of her loving family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.

Joyce was born March 15, 1932, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Wilford Jones Ward and Stella May Bowles Ward. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and Iona.

On December 31, 1948, she married Ivol Ferrele Russell in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on January 6, 1965. Joyce and Ivol made their home in Idaho Falls where Joyce worked as a bookkeeper for Buttrey’s Food & Drug.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping, and refinishing furniture.

Joyce is survived by her son, Steve (Virginia) Russell of Iona, ID; daughter, Brenna (Ray) Ryner of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Dorothy Snarr of Idaho Falls; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Russell of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Darrel (Winnona) Ward of West Valley City, UT; brother, Dean (Toni) Ward of Idaho Falls; sister-in-law, Leona Ward of Idaho Falls, ID;  22 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Stella Ward; husband, Ivol Russell; brothers, Harvey, Bruce, and Clayton Ward; son, Ferrele Ivol Russell; grandson, Spencer Grant Russell; granddaughter, Melanie Dianne Sherry; granddaughter, Melissa Russell; and son-in-law, Earl Mallory Snarr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
