Click Here To View Memorial Video Helen “Joyce” Hill Elkington, 80, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014, at her cabin in Palisades, Idaho. She was born November 13, 1933, in Malad, Idaho, to Daniel LeRoy Thomas and Mattie Erline Price Thomas. She grew up and attended schools in Malad. She graduated from Malad High School and Stevens-Henager Business College. On March 6, 1952, Joyce married Andrew “Clair” Hill in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born five children, Scott, Kathryn, Dennis, Deborah, and Janice. Joyce was a loving mother and homemaker. She also worked as a switch-board operator for many years. Clair passed away on September 21, 1974. On November 24, 1979, Joyce married Fred William Elkington in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Fred passed away on January 26, 2014. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings in the Church, including Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, and Librarian. She also served as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for 19 years. Joyce enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, camping, fishing, and square dancing. She especially loved spending time with her family, playing games, watching movies, and traveling. She was a member of a bridge club, a bowling league, and the Promenaders Square Dance Club. She is survived by her son, Scott (Carol) Hill of Orem, UT; daughter, Kathryn Shirts of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Dennis (Rebecca) Hill of Richland, WA; daughter, Deborah Hill of Orem, UT; daughter, Janice Hill of Orem, UT; son, Randy (Pam) Elkington of Mapleton, UT; son, Blair (Marion) Elkington of Osgood, ID; daughter, Susan (Tim) Serr of Blackfoot, ID; daughter, Shauna (Dalenor) Halls of Gilbert, AZ; 28 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel LeRoy Thomas and Mattie Price Thomas; first husband, Andrew Clair Hill; second husband, Fred William Elkington; two brothers, Gerald and Clair Thomas; two sisters, Gloria and Janice Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014, at the Summerfield LDS Ward, 3721 Shadow Mountain Trail Road, Idaho Falls, Idaho, with Bishop Robert Meeks officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2014, at Wood Funeral Home, 963 S. Ammon Road, and 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery on Hitt Road.

Ammon Road, and 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery on Hitt Road.
