Joyce Cox

Dorothy Joyce Gray Cox, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 29, 2016, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. She was under the care of Alliance Hospice.

Joyce was born July 12, 1933, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Duain Yates Gray and Eudora Elma Pearce Gray. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls including Idaho Falls High School.

On July 26, 1951, she married Vernard DuFosee "Vern" Cox in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born eight children, Bill, Christine, Pauline, Phillip, Robert, Joseph, Preston, and Lester. Joyce and Vernard made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she worked for RT French and Pillsbury. Vern passed away January 29, 2005.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed attending the temple, her grandchildren, crocheting, gardening, canning, making great bread and raspberry jam, long walks with her sweetheart, and raising her six boys.

Joyce is survived by her son, Bill Vern (Apryl) Cox of American Fork, UT; son, Phillip Gray (Sandy) Cox of Saratoga Springs, UT; son, Robert Duain (Allison) Cox of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Joseph Delaun (Kellee) Cox of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Preston Jay (Ronda) Cox of Kuna, ID; son, Lester Eugene (Patricia) Cox of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Arlean (Jay) Beasley of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Edna Flynn of Idaho Falls, ID; 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, both her daughters, Christine Cox and Pauline Cox, and a brother, Jay Gray.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2016, at Idaho Falls LDS 14th Ward, 651 Gladstone Street, with Bishop Peter Hannon officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
