Click Here To View Memorial Video Joy G. White Alexander, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away on September 11, 2104, surrounded by her family. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on September 5, 1933, to William A. White and Florence (Putt) Floyd White. In 1951 she graduated from Pocatello High School and continued her education at Idaho State University. In 1954 she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She met the love of her life, Ralph C. Alexander, also of Pocatello, Idaho, in 1954. On September 17, 1955, the two married. Ralph took a position with The Federal Aviation Administration in the Air Traffic Division, which took them to several places in the United States, and 6 years in Guam. She returned to Idaho Falls when Ralph was promoted to Tower Chief of Local Airport Control Tower and Local FAA Coordinator for all of Eastern Idaho. Joy worked as a nurse at LDS Hospital in surgery, and then at the New Day Surgery on Seventeenth Street. She loved people and helping those in need, so after retiring it became natural for her to volunteer for the Red Cross. She received great satisfaction in her volunteer work there. She also loved spending time with her family. Her decision to retire came after watching Ralph have so much fun on the golf course, she had to join him. Together they had some of their best times playing golf until she became too sick to play. On July 3, 2013, Joy entered Morningstar Assisted Living with advanced dementia. Since then her family has remained by her side until her passing. Joy is survived by her one true love, her husband of 58 years, Ralph Alexander of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kim (Jeff) Williams of Ammon, ID; daughter, Julie (Gary) Gough of Spokane, WA; granddaughter, Laura Haugan of Spokane, WA; grandson, Eric Gough of Moses Lake, WA; sister, Peggy (Floyd) Anderson of Pocatello, ID; sister, Gloria (Bill) Cottle of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Janet (Bill) White of Orange County, CA; 4 great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
