Joseph Anthony “Joe” Nenni, 54, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born August 13, 1959, in Albany, New York, to Lucy Rose and the late Oscar Nenni. He graduated from Colonie Central High School and attended The Colorado School of Mines, where he received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. After graduation he worked at Rocky Flats until he accepted a job in Idaho. In 1989, he moved to Idaho Falls to begin his career at the INL.
Soccer was always a passion of Joe’s and he could always be seen on the sidelines, cheering for his kids, when they played while growing up. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, playing golf, and watching football and soccer in his free time.
Joe was a beloved member of the community and could often be found volunteering his time for different causes. He had a kind and loving personality and was a friend to all he met. Above all, he wholeheartedly loved his children and was proud of all their accomplishments. His fighting spirit, contagious smile, and courage to face life's difficult battles will live in our hearts forever and serve as a reminder to never give up and always find the good in everything.
Joe is survived by his two children, Philip Nenni of Logan, UT, and Elizabeth Nenni of Salt Lake City, UT; and his beloved dog, Tucker. He is also survived by his mother, Lucy Rose Nenni of Albany, NY; sisters, Anne Marie Whiteley of Voorheesville, NY, and Rosemarie Nenni of Houston, TX; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Oscar Nenni, and his sister, Teresa Barber.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Idaho Central Credit Union (member #1011057) where they will be donated to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In honor of Joe, who went through countless blood transfusions while undergoing treatment, the family also asks those who are able to donate to your local blood bank where people in need will receive this priceless, life saving gift.
