Joseph Oliver Lee, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 27, 2024.
Joseph was born May 31, 1936, in Oklahoma Lane, Texas, to Pearl Arthur Lee and Willie Alvin McCollam Lee. He grew up and attended schools in Clovis, New Mexico, and graduated from Clovis High. He also attended Eastern New Mexico University where he earned his bachelor’s in Business. He was a three sport letterman and excelled at football, volleyball, and track.
On November 25, 1959, he married Joan Claire Savage in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Joseph and Joan made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Joseph worked as a Contract Specialist for the Department of Energy.
Joseph was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors camping and fishing. He was a member of the AEC Sportsman’s Club and Good Sam's RV Club.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Joan Claire Lee; son, J. Cameron Lee and daughter-in-law, René Lee; son, Brady D. Lee; sister, Dora Stout; grandchildren, Madison Swiderek, Marissa Florentino (Lee), Miranda Freedman, Joseph Lee, and Cassandra Ohl; and great-grandchildren, Oakley Freedman, Paxon Ohl, Tucker Freedman, Apollo Ohl, Jude Freedman, and Caden Florentino.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Angeline Stanley, James Lee, Avon Lee, Lahoma Lee, Alpha Everly, Alma Yawn, Joyce Davis, Edward Lee, and Gracie Rose.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 26, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street in Idaho Falls. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Inurnment will be in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard after the service at the church.
