Joseph Edward Elliott, 87, of Ammon, passed away May 17, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
Joe was born August 21, 1938, in Lebanon, Kansas, to David Joseph Elliott and Ella Marie Walker Forman. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. Afterward, Joseph served in the United States Air Force.
On November 20, 1959, he married Elizabeth Ann Collins in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Joe and Beth made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where Joe worked as a Plant Services Forman for the Argonne National Lab.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the National Guard. He was a very active member of the Eagles and went through the Chairs of the Order. He received a lifetime achievement award, was Mr. Eagle, and was instrumental in the building construction of the current Eagles Lodge working tireless hours for nine months. He was one of four original builders. He served on several committees. He could step into any chair and do the part flawlessly. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, bowling, camping, and spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Cindy Barnes of Idaho Falls, ID; son, David (Candy) Elliott of Ririe, ID; daughter, Debbie Fife of Ammon, ID; brother, Dan (Carolyn) Elliott of Rigby, ID; step-sister, Dorothy (David) Cole of Idaho Falls, ID; step-brother, Duane (JoAnn) Forman of Portland, OR; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beth Elliott; brother, Jerry Elliott; son-in-law, Greg Fife; son-in-law, Steve Barnes; step-sister, Jeanie Bingham; and step-sister, Pat Barker.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Thursday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Iona Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Air Force Honor Guard.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Community Hospital for their compassionate care and give a special thank you to Dr. Haderlie and his staff.
