JOE BODELL
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Joseph J. Bodell, 83, of Idaho Falls,
died December 24, 2003, at the Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. He was under
the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
He was born June 20, 1920, to Joseph Samuel Bodell and
Emma Linda Hiskey Bodell in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in Nephi, Utah,
and the surrounding areas. He attended and graduated from Juab High School.
He attended Utah State University where he met Norma Merkley.
They were married in Logan, February 6, 1942. In April of the same year
he was called up to serve in the Army Air Corp. They did not see each other
again for 4 years.
After serving in England, he returned home and continued
his schooling at Utah State. He received a degree in Agricultural Education.
His first teaching job was in Arimo, Nevada. After one year in Nevada he
came to Idaho where he taught for 34 years. He divided his time between
the Ag departments at Rigby High School and Roberts High School. He retired
in 1982. He was an active member of the Idaho Education Association and
IEA Retired association.
He enjoyed living in Eastern Idaho, fishing, hunting, playing
golf, and visiting Yellowstone Park. He was very proud of the young men
that he taught, and was always delighted when they came by to visit and
share the directions of their lives.

Son: Robert (Rita) Bodell, Idaho Falls, ID
Daughter: Eloise (Darrel) Pack, Idaho Falls, ID
4 Grandsons and 2 Great Grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Norma.
His cremation will be handled by Wood Funeral Home (273
N. Ridge) in Idaho Falls. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made
in Joe’s name to the IEA Children’s Fund, 620 North 6th Street,
Boise, Idaho 83701.
