Jonathan “Jonny” Alma Walker, 39, of Ammon, passed away February 26, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Jon was born August 6, 1985, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lonny LeRoy Walker and Nancy Mary Robinson Walker. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Bonneville High School.
At a young age, Jon knew he wanted to be a fireman. After turning 18, he joined the Ucon Volunteer Fire Department, earning the rank of Lieutenant. He volunteered for 10 years. During this time, he also assisted the Ammon Volunteer Fire Department.
Jon enlisted in the United States Army in April 2008 at the age of 22 as a 12M Firefighter in the Idaho National Guard. He faithfully served until he was called home on February 26th. Jon earned the rank of Staff Sergeant through dedication, hard work, and loyalty. He served in the 939th Engine Detachment, earning the Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal to name a few.
Jonathan enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He could always be found helping others, attending sporting events, camping, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed welding, forging, online gaming, and baseball. Jon had a playful silliness and would often make the people around him laugh. He had a generous nature and would give of himself or financially. Even in death, Jon continued to give as an organ donor. Many recipients will be given another chance at life or a better way of life.
Jon touched many lives during his time on this earth. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. His legacy will live on with all the countless memories we've made with him.
Jon is survived by his parents and sister, Laura (Jason) Caudle of Ucon, ID, a nephew and niece, along with many cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Marcella Robinson, and grandparents, Newell and Lila Walker.
