John Woolf

John Anthony Woolf, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 30, 2016, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice. John was born February 9, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Arland Devoe Woolf and Breta Lavon Hansen Woolf. He grew up and attended schools in Iona and graduated from Iona High School. He served in the U. S. Army as a part of the occupation forces in Germany following World War II. On December 5, 1953, he married Shirley Lucille Christensen in Iona, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple April 20, 1961. They made their home in Idaho Falls, then Anaheim and Ontario, California, where they raised their four children, John, Teresa, Mickey, and Mary. John worked as warehouseman for Jerseymaid, then as a custodian for Bonneville School District #93. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings over the years. His hobbies included fishing, camping, watching sports on TV, playing cards, dominoes, and baseball with his kids, Fort Hall Casino gaming, gardening, camp cooking, and western movies. John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Woolf of Idaho Falls, ID; son, John A. (Marcy) Woolf, Jr. of Ypsilanti, MI, daughter, Teresa L. (Jose Serrano) Mondino of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Mickey A. (Carie Olehy) Woolf of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Mary E. (Calvin "Sonny" Jr.) Lemons of Ucon, ID, sister, Marsha Goodrich of Salt Lake City, UT. 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, six sisters, and a stillborn son, Bruce A. Woolf. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Idaho Falls LDS St. Leon Ward, 6925 North15th East, with Bishop Darin Berrett officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.

12 Noon ,Saturday, August 6, 2016 Idaho Falls LDS St. Leon Ward 6925 North 15th East Idaho Falls, ID, Bonneville 83401 Notes: The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
