JOHN WALKER IDAHO FALLS, ID - John Isaac Walker, 78, of Idaho Falls, died September 23, 2004, at his home, of natural causes. He was born March 20, 1926, in Ammon, Idaho, to Delbert Walker and Ocellia Robbins Walker. He attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Iona High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He married LaPreal Thornton June 19, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple June 19, 1957. They lived in the Idaho Falls, Iona and Lincoln areas throughout their married lives. He retired after forty years with Boozer Oil Company in Idaho Falls. As a member of The Churchof Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Bishop of the Lincoln 1st Ward, as a temple officiator and in various other callings. He and his wife served a mission to Tempe, Arizona. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family camping, fishing, traveling, golfing and four-wheeling. Surviving are: Son: John D. (Leana) Walker, St. George, UT Son: Rodney D. (Joan) Walker, Mesa, AZ Daughter: Luella (John)Bagley, Rexburg, ID Daughter: Bonnie G. (Steven) Tanner, St. George, UT Sister: Rose Tyler, Portland, OR Sister: Bernetta Woodward, Orem, UT Sister: Betty June Goodson, Blackfoot, ID 21 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, a sister, and two daughters. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at the Idaho Falls Lincoln Stake Center (2545 Mesa), with Bishop Chris Brown, of the Lincoln 1st Ward, officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side Chapel, (963 S. Ammon Road) and for one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
