Click Here To View Memorial Video John Sidney Stibal, 75, of Idaho Falls, our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather died June 17, 2013 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, from a heart attack. John was born Nov. 6, 1937 on the family farm in Roberts, Idaho, to John Spencer Stibal and Polly Gibson Stibal. While attending Roberts High School, John excelled in sports, playing football, basketball, wrestling, and baseball. He was also a member of the Future Farmers of America, being honored as Future Farmer of the Year. John graduated high school in May 1955. After high school, John attended Idaho State University where he was on the boxing team. He was a life long avid booster for ISU sports and rarely missed a football or basketball game. In 1956 he enlisted in the Idaho National Guard, serving as a Specialist Third Class, Tank Company, 2nd Battalion, 116th Armored Cavalry - he was proud to serve his country. John was honorably discharged in 1959. John lived and worked in Bountiful, Utah for the Sperry Company. John was blessed with two daughters, Tami and Shauna, from his first marriage. After returning to Idaho, he worked the majority of his career at Mountain Bell Telephone Company, starting as a lineman working his way up to Engineer. John was a life-long member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was also a volunteer for the Junior Achievement where he worked with high school students teaching them the importance of hard work. John found his true love in Susan (Roker) Hodge and married her July 14, 1973, also becoming a father to Storm Hodge. John and Sue also had a son together, John William Stibal. John retired in 1990 from the telephone company and enjoyed consulting work for Power Engineering, traveling all over the western United States. John always had an immaculate yard and loved helping Sue in the garden. He was very tender hearted towards animals and always loved having pets, especially cats. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling with Sue, friends and family. They visited many countries including China, Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Czechoslovakia, Israel and Egypt. John is survived by his lovely wife of 40 years, Sue Daughter: Tami (Duane) Nelson of Orem, UT Daughter: Shauna Lee of Spanish Fork, UT Son: Storm (Stephanie) Hodge of Renton, WA Son: John W. Stibal of Idaho Falls, ID nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren with two on the way; Sister: Colleen (Bill) Neel of Fairfax, VA Sister: Sherry (Mike) Dunbar of Salmon, ID John was greatly loved and adored by his family and friends and will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon). The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
