John William Steele, 69, of Salmon, passed away August 30, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, from injuries sustained in a 4-wheeler accident.
John was born November 21, 1945, in Salmon, ID, to John Clark Steele and Agnes Waneta Adams Steele. He grew up and attended schools in Challis and graduated from Challis High School.
On June 7, 1975, he married Joanne Dean McConnaghy in Salmon, ID. John and Joanne made their home in Salmon where John worked as a logger, miner and heavy equipment operator.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, 4-wheeling, horn hunting, spending time with the family and playing with his grandchildren.
John is survived by
his loving wife of 40 years, JoAnne Steele of Salmon, ID;
son, JC (Lucinda) Steele of Salmon, ID;
son, Scott (Karen) Martin of Kimberly, ID;
daughter, Dajuana (Jason) Summers of Carmen, ID;
brother, Randy Steele of Salmon, ID;
sister, Jylene (Stan) Davis of Salmon, ID;
sister, Fran (Sam) McNeil of Lewiston, ID;
and longtime friend, Walt McConnaghy of Challis, ID;
and 9 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren, RJ Summers and Faith Summers, sister-n-law, Rose McConnaghy, and a sister-in-law, Brandy Steele.
A gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015, at the Steele Residence in Salmon, 408 Adams Street.
