John Frederic Schroader

John Frederic Schroader, 65, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 6, 2024, at his home.

John was born September 21, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Fred Schroader and Elnor Lynn Schroader. He grew up attending schools in Kaysville, Utah, and graduated from Davis High School. He also attended Dixie College where he majored in Art.

On March 27, 1985, he married Karen Barkdull. They were blessed with three children, Casey, Cory, Cortney. John and Karen were later divorced.

John worked with his dad at Schroader Insurance in Layton, Utah, for many years. He later became his parents' caregiver where he lived and cared for them in their home in Kaysville.

John found immense joy in his family and spending time with his grandchildren. They were the jewels in his crown. Even though the miles separated them, he was always anxiously waiting for the next time he could make the trip to see them. He especially loved visiting his "Little Angel," Cortney who also lived in Idaho.

During his life, John was known as an avid outdoorsman. Some of his happiest memories were centered around fishing and duck hunting with his boys. He was born with a rod in his hands and having eight brothers, grew up exploring the outdoors, staying up late to dig up nightcrawlers for fishing, and spending time at their favorite spots, Farmington Bay, Strawberry, and night fishing at Willard Bay. He helped to raise cows, chickens, and turkeys when he was young, and never shied away from plucking and preparing a chicken or a pheasant. It was no surprise that John was a great cook. He especially enjoyed cooking his latest catch or items he harvested from his garden.

John was also a skilled artist, from screen graphics to watercolor and charcoal, he loved capturing wildlife and outdoor landscapes. He was a sensitive soul, appreciating beauty and the goodness of God's creations. John had the biggest heart and never had an unkind word for anyone. He was generous with the things he had and would be the first to give you the shirt off his back.

John is survived by his son, Casey (Alyssa) Schroader of West Weber, UT; son, Cory (Celeste) Schroader of Clinton, UT; daughter, Cortney (Jeff Ritter) Schroader; sister, Judy (Greg) Kiefer of South Weber, UT; sister, Sandi (Dave) Herrin of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Bill (Bonnie) Schroader of Holladay, UT; brother, Mike Schroader of La Verkin, UT; brother, Paul (Ann Marie) Schroader of Erda, UT; brother, Russ (Keiko) Schroader of Round Rock, TX; brother, Rob (Angie) Schroader of Mesquite, NV; brother, Jake (Dani) Schroader of Highland, UT;  and 6 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Schroader; and nephews, Ben Kiefer and Drew Schroader.
