John David Quinn, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 14, 2015, at his home. He was under the care of Nuclear Care Partners and his loving family.
John was born July 5, 1929, in Huntington Park, California, to John Quinn and Clara Skaiem Quinn. He attended grade school in Roberts, Idaho, and junior high in Menan, Idaho. John attended high school at Midway, where he graduated in 1947. He later attended Ricks College in 1948 and in 1956 he attended Idaho State University. In 1953 John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On May 19, 1953, he married Marlene LaRae Landon Quinn in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born seven children, Aldean, Allen, Paul, Vaughn, Sheila, Wade and Ranae. John and Marlene made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where John worked as a Industrial Mechanic for the INL.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities, including Bishop, Sunday School Superintendent, and Ward Clerk. John served a full-time LDS mission in 1950 to the Great Lakes Mission. In 1995 Marlene and John were able to serve a mission together in Auckland, New Zealand, and Australia. Following their mission they were temple workers in the Idaho Falls Temple. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, working on old trucks, four-wheeling, camping, snowmobiling and golfing. John especially loved spending time with his family.
John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marlene Quinn,

son, Allen (Christine) Quinn of Moses Lake, WA,
son, Paul (Valine) Quinn of Midway, UT,
son, Vaughn (Cindy) Quinn of Grant, ID,
daughter, Sheila (Stuart) Purser of Idaho Falls, ID,
son, Wade (Beckie) Quinn of Ucon, ID,
daughter, Ranae (Robert) Smith of Rexburg, ID,
sister, Kathryn Phillips of Redding, CA.
37 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and one brother.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Nuclear Care Partners and OneSource Home Health and Hospice for the care that was provided to John.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, at the Idaho Falls LDS Coltman 2nd Ward, 12448 North 5th East, with Bishop Myron Creager officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Grant-Central Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
