John Harris Putnam, Jr., 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away on May 24, 2012, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community.
He was born January 23, 1933, in Shanghai, China to John Harris Putnam and Irene Castro Putnam. When he was 11 years old, the family moved to Pocatello and then 3 years later to Idaho Falls where he has since resided. Following his graduation from high school, he attended the University of Idaho where he received his Associate Degree in Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class during the Korean War.
On September 22, 1958, he married Lova Stoddard in Lorenzo, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They later divorced. He worked as an Engineer at the INEL for 39 years.
John was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, and competition shooting.

Sister: Elsie Jenkins, Idaho Falls, ID
5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild
He was preceded in death by his son, William Putnam; and his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) with Bishop Darren Rose, of the Idaho Falls LDS Westview Ward, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
