John Olsen

John Olsen, a resident of Idaho Falls, left this world on December 17, 2023, at the tender age of 44, after a courageous battle with cancer. During his final moments, John was surrounded by the love of cherished friends and family, both near and far. Though he has departed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Born on May 6, 1979, John spent his early years under the loving care of his grandparents, Wayne and Yvonne Olsen, in Iona, Idaho. His childhood was adorned with a profound love for superheroes, with Batman and Superman holding a special place in his heart. John's passion extended to timeless 80s classics, including Star Wars, Back to the Future, and Ghostbusters. Following his graduation from Fairview High School, John pursued higher education at Al Collins Graphic Design School in Tempe Arizona, earning his associate degree and subsequently venturing into entrepreneurship.

John exemplified resilience and determination, serving as an inspiring example for overcoming challenges and achieving goals. Always a pillar of support, he was a compassionate listener and a reliable presence for friends and family. His unwavering commitment to those he cared about made him a cherished companion and confidant, readily available at any time.

A devoted grandson to Wayne and Yvonne, John's caring nature extended to his family. He was a source of comfort and support, particularly to his beloved grandparents. His life was a testament to compassion, empathy, and the true essence of friendship.

Among his many passions, John found immense joy in his roles as a grandson, friend, uncle, brother, cousin, and coworker. His love for movies, quality time with loved ones, martial arts, and collecting iconic action figures, comic books, Legos, and other treasures enriched his life. John relished sharing his thoughts on films, attending new releases and classic screenings, and traveling to comic conventions with friends. His deep affection for cats was evident in his commitment to rescuing and providing loving homes for those in need.

John is preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne Olsen, and his mother, Cynthia Lee Olsen.

He is survived by his grandmother, Yvonne Olsen; sister, Brittany Cragun; and a circle of devoted friends and family who will forever cherish the memory of the remarkable person John was.
