John Noall Nixon III (Jack), of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died on January 15, 2026, with family at his side. He was born the eldest child of John Noall Nixon Jr. and Mary Ann Nieminen Nixon, on June 17, 1952, in Provo, Utah, and had three younger sisters, Barbi, Judi, and Diane.
He married the love of his life, Katherine Lynn Welker (Kate), on May 18, 1974, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were blessed with one daughter and six sons.
Jack possessed a kind and patient nature, intelligent mind, and playful humor. At a young age, he enjoyed playing chess with his father, became a very skilled player, and passed that love on to his sons. He also enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together and was interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics his entire life. This interest led him to complete an education and become a talented computer hardware engineer.
He enjoyed motorcycles, computers, robotics, bicycling, old Western movies, camping, fly fishing, working on old cars, extremely hot sauces, and watching bad movies with his sons. While he hadn't lived near them for some time, his sons would regularly call or text; and there was often an online chess game in progress. His feelings of love for his sons and their families were often shared with others.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed singing in choir and serving in various capacities.
Jack is survived by his sons, John (Sara) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Aaron (Nicole) of Portland, Oregon; Matt (Emma) of Phoenix, Arizona; Pete (Heather) of Seattle, Washington; Stephen of San Jose, California; and Joe (Rebecca) of La Grange, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and beautiful daughter, Eva Ann.
A private gathering is planned for family and close friends.
