JOHN MUCCI Click here to view John's Video Tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- John Joseph Mucci, 88, of Idaho Falls, died March 29, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of lung cancer. John was born December 26, 1921 in Malden, Massachusetts. He was the eldest of four born to Alphonse Mucci and Angelina Cincotta Mucci. He attended the Immaculate Conception Grammar School in Malden and graduated in 1936. He then attended Boston Trade School and graduated in 1940 with a certificate in Sheet Metalworks. In 1942 he joined the Navy, serving through WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He served aboard eight ships and was a qualified deep sea diver, replacing broken ship screws. He served three shore duties: Charleston, South Carolina; New Port, Rhode Island; and Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was a recruiter and involved in R.O.T.C. He retired from the Navy after 26 years on January 1967, as a Senior Chief. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Eagles Lodge. He married Veronica Matullo on February 28, 1943 in New York. They raised three children together: John Jr., Patricia, and Mike. After 49 years of marriage, Veronica preceded him in death on March 3, 1992. He married Delores White on November 11, 1993 at the Senior Center in Idaho Falls. John was a member of the Idaho Falls Catholic Community. His hobbies included Veteran's Affairs, hunting, fishing and golf. Survivors include: Wife: Delores Mucci, Idaho Falls, ID Son: John (Vicki) Mucci, Bartlesville, OK Daughter: Patricia (Everet) Clifton, Idaho Falls, ID Stepdaughter: Lisa Stukey, Morgan Hill, CA Sister: Marie DAmico, Westwood, MA Sister: Rita (Edward) Solano, Peabody, MA Sister-in-Law: Faye Driggars, Sandpoint, ID 9 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Veronica; brother, Joseph L. Mucci, son, Mike, brother-in-law, John DAmico, son-in-law, Fred Stukey, and great grandson, Colton Hymas. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue with Decaon Wence Rodriquez of the Idaho Falls Catholic Community officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
