John David Morris, 79, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away February 4, 2018, at his home.
John was born February 27, 1938, in Basalt, Idaho, to John Robert Morris and Gertrude Almina Kotter Morris. He grew up and attended schools in the area and graduated from Firth High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal. He attended Utah State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
On October 20, 1967, he married Sandy Anselmo Morris in Idaho Falls. John and Sandy were blessed with five children: Lance, Angey, Ryan, Derek, and Rainie. They made their home in Idaho Falls where John worked as a Human Resources Administrator for Bechtel Corporation. After retirement, he also worked as a Hertz Driver.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife, Sandy, served as full-time missionaries in the California Riverside mission. He enjoyed sports, motorcycles, traveling, walking, and hiking. His greatest treasure is his family and he loved spending time with them.
John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandy Morris of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Lance John (Megan) Morris of Nampa, ID; daughter, Angey Jo (Tate) Lybbert of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Ryan David (Brenda) Morris of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Derek Steven (Amy) Morris of Meridian, ID; daughter, Rainie Lee (Christopher) Graham of Allen, TX; sister, Carolyn (Larry) Johnson of Provo, UT; and 19 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Robert Delar Morris, Garth Morris and Sterling Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Idaho Falls LDS 26th Ward Building (2025 Jennie Lee Drive) with Bishop Kim Smith officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 South Ammon Road) and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at the Lincoln Cemetery in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Marine Honor Guard.
