John Bennett Moore Jr.

John Bennett Moore Jr., 89, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away December 18, 2021, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was under the care of Encompass Hospice.

John was born June 24, 1932, in Ogden, Utah, to John Bennett Moore Sr. and Dorothy Nellie Taylor Moore. He grew up and attended schools in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. He also attended the University of Utah and the University of Maryland Dental School. John served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army.

On August 8, 1958, he married Myrtle “Julaine” Moore in the Salt Lake City Temple. John and Julaine made their home in Pueblo, Colorado, where John worked as a dentist.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings, including Bishop and a member of the High Council. He enjoyed cars of all makes, especially Studebakers, and anything with a motor, including trains, airplanes, and motorcycles.

John is survived by his daughters, Nancy M. (Matthew) Jones of Idaho Falls, ID, and Mary L. (Michael Lucero) Ross of Pueblo, CO; son, John Bennett (Linda) Moore III of Hays, KS; brothers, Richard (Julie) Moore of Reno, NV, and David (Linda) Moore of Salt Lake City, UT; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
