John Edward Losch was born on September 2, 1951, to parents Frederick S. Losch and Jean Levering.
He grew up and was raised in California. His parents were once the owners of the Guest ranch, known as the Slash E Ranch. This ranch consisted of a few rustic cabins adjacent to portion of Targhee Creek. Guests from all over the country came there to relax and fish.
John met his wife and the love of his life- Elizabeth Laden and her son Ben- the summer of 1993, at Sunset Lodge, in Island Park, Idaho. John frequented Sunset Lodge often, and enjoyed playing acoustic guitar for the delighted patrons.
John and his family then moved to around to Havasu, Arizona, Iberia, Louisiana, Hardin, Montana, and finally settled down in Island Park, Idaho, in January of 1997. Within a few months, Elizabeth and John Losch founded and developed the original Island Park News. Elizabeth and John produced this newspaper every single week until September 20 of 2012, when Elizabeth Laden passed away.
John was kind, funny, and wildly intelligent. He enjoyed playing music, writing, fishing, and everything related to the outdoors. He will be missed.
John Losch passed away on August 7, 2024, from natural causes.
He survived by his step son Ben Warner, brother Jim Losch, his sister Barbara Losch, and his two nephews Paul and Adam Losch.
He was cremated at Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls. There is no memorial planned at this time.
