John Lloyd Kemp, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 24, 2015, at his home.

John was born December 6, 1932, in San Francisco, California, to John Lloyd Kemp and Louise Kemp. He grew up and attended schools in Redwood City, California, and graduated from Sequoia High School. He also attended college in San Mateo, California. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned the ranking of a First Lieutenant while serving for his country. On March 11, 1956, he married Joyce Carol Howard in Redwood City, California. To this union were born three children, Deborah Lynn, Cheryl Diane, and Mark Lawrence. John and Joyce made their home in Menlo Park, California, where John worked as a wire and cable engineer for 37 years at Raychem Corp. He also worked as an antique dealer and played baseball in the farm leagues. Joyce passed away on May 14, 2009.

John enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, art, and Russian laquer boxes. He was also an avid San Francisco 49ers fan.

John is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Diane Insco of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Deborah Lynn Moore of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Mark Lawrence Kemp of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Sally Kemp of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Bronwen Kemp of Central California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Carol Kemp; parents, John and Louise Kemp; granddaughter, Rebecca Moore; and brother, Richard Kemp.

A Gathering will be held from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
