John "Jack" Yardley Greene, 87, of Mackay, Idaho, passed away October 8, 2017, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. Jack was born August 19, 1930, in Mackay, Idaho, to John Yardley Greene and Wilma Mays Greene. He grew up and attended schools in Mackay, Idaho, and graduated from Mackay High School. He also attended Idaho State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Geology. Jack served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for various mining companies in Idaho and Oregon. Jack retired from the J.R. Simplot Company in Afton, Wyoming. Jack was an avid hunter, fisherman and hiker. He was a member of the Mt. Borah Ski Club and in his later years, Jack became a voracious reader. Jack is survived by his cousin, Lew R Greene of Mackay, ID, cousin, Ren C Greene of Hood River, OR, and close friend, Kathie Lambson of Mackay, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank all the loving care givers who assisted him in his later years. No services will be held.
