John Giles, Jr

John Harvey Giles Jr., 88, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away June 14, 2016, at Bingham Memorial Hospital.

John was born February 9, 1928, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to John Harvey Giles, Sr. and Bessie Eva Davis Giles.

On September 16, 1949, he married Marilyn Ruth Giles in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born ten children, Layne, Connie, John, David, Lorrie, Daren, Julie, Barbara, Janine, and Mark. John and Marilyn made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where John worked as a meat cutter for Earls IGA, Skyline IGA & Fays IGA. Marilyn passed away on April 28, 2000.

John enjoyed camping, traveling, and most of all, his time spent with family and friends.

John is survived by his son, Layne H. (Kebbie) Giles of Blackfoot, ID; daughter,　Connie G. (John Farley) of Omak, WA; son, John K.　(Joy) Giles of Idaho Falls, ID; son, David C. Giles; daughter, Lorrie K. Barnes (Ken) of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Daren L. (Anne) Giles of Boise, ID; daughter, Barbara (Colin) Peterslie of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Janine (Michael) Cross of Jacksonville, FL; son, Mark W. (Linnette) Giles of Kingman, AZ; 35 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn Ruth Giles; brother, Tommy Giles; two sisters, Mildred Smith and Marjorie Bierma; daughter, Julie Giles; and two grandsons, Thomas J. Fox and Travis Giles.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Watersprings Church, 4250 South 25th East, Idaho Falls, with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
