John Cutler

John Elbert Cutler, 90, of Ammon, passed away February 19, 2019, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. John was born September 1, 1928, in Preston, Idaho, to Allen Riley Cutler Jr. and Ida Belnap Cutler. He grew up and attended schools in Preston and graduated from Preston High School. He served a full-time mission to the Great Lakes Mission. He then attended the University of Idaho where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. He continued his education at the University of Utah where he received his Master’s Degree in Accounting. While attending the University of Utah, he met LaRue Hinckley, and their marriage was sealed on July 19, 1957, in the Salt Lake City Temple. To this marriage were born four children, Lorraine, Gwen, John and Karen. John and LaRue spent most of their married life in Long Beach, California, where John worked as a Certified Public Accountant. LaRue passed away on October 21, 2015. John was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and LaRue served three full-time missions to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Los Angeles, California; and Tokyo, Japan. He served in numerous callings, including Bishop, Branch President in the Cambodian Branch, and as a counselor in a stake presidency. He loved being an officiator in the temple. He enjoyed gardening, camping, and spending time outdoors. He was an avid reader and paid great attention to details. He enjoyed computers and technology. Most of all, he loved serving others. John is survived by his loving children: daughter, Lorraine (Steven) Glazier of St. George, UT; daughter, Gwen (Jon) Harl of San Jose, CA; son, John (Sharon) Cutler of Ammon, ID; daughter, Karen (David) Kimball of Irvine, CA; sister, Joanne (Richard) Anderson of Boise, ID; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaRue Cutler; brothers, Allen R. Cutler, Reed Cutler, and David Cutler; and sisters, Lucy Daines and Gwen Cutler. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Idaho Falls Stonehaven Ward, 2055 Coronado, with Bishop Mark Taylor officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Farmington, Utah Cemetery.
