John William Cook, 64, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his home.
John was born Earl William Cook on February 19, 1948, in Sidney, New York, to Earl and Iva Owen Cook. He grew up and attended schools in Bainbridge, New York, where he graduated from Bainbridge-Gilford High School in 1966. He then joined the United States Air Force, during which time he served in the Vietnam War. After twenty years of dedicated service, he retired from the Air Force in 1987.
Throughout his life John made his home in New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Idaho. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, along with hunting, fishing, home improvements, and tinkering on automobiles. John was known for his generosity and willingness to always lend a helping hand, as well as his ability to lighten the mood with his jokes and storytelling.
John leaves behind his three daughters:
Suzette Marie Cook (Luke) Thompson of Aviano, Italy;
June Marie Cook of Idaho Falls, ID; and
Jennifer Marie Cook (Nathan) Snarr of Las Vegas, NV;
Brother: Roger (Annette) Cook and
Sister: Virginia Cook (Bill) Nelson of New York;
Grandson: Paul Thompson and
Grandson: Silas Thompson and
Two Fur Granddaughters: Duchess Snarr and Milly Grace Cook;
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services with Military Rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the Freeman Park Vietnam War Memorial.
