John Clawson

John R. Clawson - 01/07/2002 John R. Clawson - 01/07/2002 JOHN R. CLAWSON John R. “Jack” Clawson, 70, of Ucon, Idaho, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and businessman passed away on January 6, 2002, at his home of natural causes. He was born on November 8, 1931, in St. Ignatius, Montana to Ray Clawson and Veva Harker Clawson. He was the fifth of seven children. His childhood years were spent in Charlo, Montana and later as a young teen he moved to Ucon, Idaho. Although he was called on an LDS mission to the Southern States, before he could serve he was drafted into the Korean War and stationed in Germany. After completing his military duty, he returned to Ucon where he married his high school sweetheart, Caralyn Prater on May 22, 1953, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They became the parents of seven children. He was known as the “oilman” by those closest to him, as he worked most of his adult life either delivering, dispatching, or owning a fuel bulk plant, the Clawson Oil and Trucking Company. At retirement, he was working as a dispatcher for Andrus Distributing. He loved the oil and trucking business and all of the friends and clients that he met over the years while serving them. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various positions, including counselor in the bishopric and his favorite position, a primary teacher of youth. He was a man of great faith who tried to follow the Savior's example by giving freely to others. He had a huge, caring heart. He set a lasting example by working hard, being courageous, putting other's needs before his own, and was a true example of enduring to the end. Mostly, he wanted to be the best husband, dad, grandpa and soon to be great grandpa to his family. Survivors include his wife, Caralyn Clawson of Ucon; his five daughters, Julie (Milan) Miller of Ucon, Sally (Richard) George of Rigby, Marcy (Lynn) Aeschbacher of Idaho Falls, Jodi (Curt) Cannon of Benton City, WA, and Holly (Bryan) Magleby of Idaho Falls; two sons, Rodney John (Naomi) Clawson of Aurora, CO, and Richard L. (Jaimie) Clawson of Ogden, UT; 33 grandchildren; step-mother, Margaret “Mother Margaret” Clawson of Charlo, MT; brothers and sisters, Emily Scott of Shelley, George (Margene) Clawson of Twin Falls, Rone (Beth) Clawson of Goshen currently serving an LDS mission in Salt Lake City, UT, Marian Packer of St. George, UT, and Myrtle (Keith) Allred of Spokane, WA. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2002, at the Ucon LDS Stake Center, 2967 East 105 North in Ucon, with Bishop Steve Winchester of the Ucon 4th Ward officiating.
