Weblog Entry - 03/07/2002: "John Calder" 03/07/2002 Entry: "John Calder" JOHN CALDER John Calder, 86, of Roberts, died March 6, 2002, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born May 21, 1915 at North Henderson, Illinois to John Calder and Ida Dickerson Calder. He attended schools in Illinois and Missouri. He married Dola Winder on January 24, 1939 at Ammon, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on October 24, 2000. He worked as a farmer all his life. He was a member of the Roberts Lion's Club for 39 years.He received the national Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 1999. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held the office of High Priest. He served as the Sunday School President, as a Home Teacher, and in the Elders Quorum Presidency. He enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are:Wife: Dola Calder, Roberts, IDSon: John W. “Jack” (Carla) Calder, Moses Lake, WASon: Floyd Larry (Billie) Calder, Roberts, IDDaughter: Sharon (Jim) Kluesner, Salmon, IDSon: Fred David (Marty) Calder, Menan, IDSon: Ricky Lynn Calder, Roberts, IDBrother: Fred Dickerson (Helen) Calder, FLSister: Edith Southwell, ARSister: Helen (Gene) Smith, CO 17 Grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Kathryn Brown. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Monday, March 11, 2002, at the Roberts LDS 1st Ward, with Bishop Leland Gardner officiating. The family will meet with friends Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Roberts Market Lake Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
