I'm sad to hear of Joanne's passing, but give thanks to God that she is no longer suffering, but is with the Lord. Joanne called me right after my mother died 5 years ago, and told me her memory of my parents' wedding. It was remarkable that she had any memories of it at all, as she was 4 years old at the time! She thought my mother was beautiful and looked like a princess. She remembered that the reception was at my Grandma Yantis' house (my mother's mother). She thought it was so wonderful that she was just sure Jesus was going to show up and turn the punch into wine! Joanne was my Dad's (Tillie) first cousin. I know that Joanne and her sister Marlene had some great times with my parents, after my Dad came back from the war. May God be with you during this sad time, and give you peace.

So sorry to hear of JoAnn's passing. I had the privilege of working with her at DOE. I always thought she was the classiest person ever. Quiet, calm, sincere, but when she spoke her opinion people took note. Heaven is lucky to have her home

Aunt Joanne was always very thoughtful. I'll always remember when I was 8 years old, my first pet died. Two days later, I received a poem in the mail from Joanne that she wrote for me:
I gave my love to Gemini
My beautiful siamese cat
Although he made me sneeze and wheeze
I forgave him for all that
He was the best friend that I had
And it's hard for us to part
But a memory I will keep of him
Tucked down inside my heart.
I was so touched that I memorized it then, some 35 years ago, and still have it memorized to this day. I will keep a memory of Aunt Joanne tucked down inside my heart as well.

I saw in the paper about the passing of your wife and wanted to offer our sympathy. I'm sure it's tough to lose a companion. We remember meeting her in Chicago when we were all there for the IR-100 awards.
