Joanna Lee (Marto) Murray

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joanna Murray, 84, on December 5, 2024.

Joanna’s presence in the lives of those who knew her will be deeply missed.

Joanna was born December 14, 1939, in Pasadena, California, to Allen and Royale Marto. She grew up and attended schools in Eagle Rock, California, and graduated from Eagle Rock High School. She also attended San Jose State and Woodbury University of Interior Design where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega.

On June 1, 1968, she married Gerald “Jerry” Blaine Murray in South Pasadena, California. Joanna and Jerry made their home in Newport Beach, California, where Joanna worked as an interior designer.

Joanna was known for her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit. She found immense joy in spending time with family and friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime. One of the highlights of her year was her cherished annual ladies’ trip with her childhood friends—a tradition that brought her joy and laughter each year.

She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her legacy of kindness, loyalty, and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.

Joanna is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Jerry Murray of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Gregg Murray of Santa Ana, CA; daughter, Melissa (Greg) Grover of Las Vegas, NV; nephew, Danny (Darlene) Purkiss of Savage, MT; niece, Rachelle Quinn (Tim Magagna) of Pocatello, ID; her great niece and nephew, Andrew and Taylor Quinn; and her much loved grand-dog, Vienna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Royale Marto, and her sister, Mary Ann Purkiss.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Joanna’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
