Joann McGillivray Mines, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 5, 2024, at her home.
Joann was born January 1, 1939, in Spokane, Washington, to John McGillivray and Orlena Hammond McGillivray. She grew up and attended schools in Spokane and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. She later attended Whitman College and University of Washington. She then earned master’s degrees at New Mexico State University and Colorado State University. Joann worked in the nuclear field as a statistician.
Joann was a member of the Presbyterian church. Her greatest passion was volunteering at the zoo. She also participated in Friends of Learning.
Joann is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Tami Fraser) Mines of Tyngsborough, MA; and four grandchildren, Kyle, Jaylan, Shaun, and Terryn Fraser-Mines.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street in Idaho Falls.
The family suggest donations be made to the Tautphaus Park Zoo.
