Joan Hunter Hope, 77, of Shelley, passed away September 29, 2011, at Idaho Falls Care and Rehabilitation Center. Joan was born February 3, 1934, in Heman, Idaho, to Murray Hunter and Birdie Marie Grover Hunter. She grew up and attended schools in Kilgore. She received her CNA Certificate in 1977. On March 21, 1951, she married Keppner Elden Hope in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they raised four children. After their marriage, Joan and Elden lived in Lost River, Rexburg, and Idaho Falls before settling in Shelley. Joan was a mother and a homemaker. She worked at Grover’s Custom Packing and ran her own janitorial business. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and various positions, including ward librarian. Joan enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, quilting, and playing the piano. She especially loved spending time with her family. Joan is survived by her husband, Elden Hope of Shelley, ID; daughter, Maryann Hope of Shelley, ID; son, Courtney Hope of Shelley, ID; son, Rodrick Hope of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Richard Hunter, sisters, Zola Armstrong, Ruth Garrett, Birdie Marie Peabody, Lily Hunter, six grandchildren: Dannee, Joshua, Jaymes, Hailie, Kasy and Erika Hope and eight great grandchildren: Bobbi Lynn Hope, Faythe Bagshaw, Naveia Hope, Justice Bagshaw, Domanic Hope, Brooklynne Hope, Dyson Hope, and Atheenia Blair. She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray and Birdie Hunter; her son Berdett Hope, sisters, Carma Seipert and Gayle Boatman; and her brothers, Grover Hunter and Edward Hunter. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at the Shelley LDS Woodville 2nd Ward, 1555 North 700 East, with Bishop Clint Wheeler officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Rexburg Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
