Jim Wilson, Jr

James “Jim” Lester Wilson, 75, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away September 6, 2014, at the Gables of Ammon. Jim was born in Greenville, South Carolina to the late James and Lena Wilson. He graduated from Parker High School, Furman University and the Louisiana School of Banking. Jim married Mary Jo Hester and together they moved to Bradenton, Florida, in 1968. Jim was passionate about saltwater fishing. He was an avid supporter of Bradenton Boys Club and a founding board member of Manatee County Youth Football, where he coached his son's team, the Tropicana Chiefs. Jim also enthusiastically cheered for Manatee High and the Florida Gators. Jim's career started out in the financial field, including many years in banking. He and his wife of 55 years started Wilson's Nursery, a bedding plant wholesaler. Upon retirement, Jim and Mary Jo could be found exploring the west in their RV with their beloved basset hound, Dozer. They briefly lived in Florence, Alabama, before moving to Idaho Falls to be closer to the west and Yellowstone National Park. Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Jo; son & daughter-in-law, Mark & Shari; beloved granddaughter, Hilary; sister, Judy Wilson; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, John & Patti Hester; and their children, Zack, Brett & Rachel. He dearly loved his family and all types of dogs. However, he had a special place in his heart for beagles, bloodhounds and bassets. A special thank you to The Gables of Ammon and Aspen Home Health & Hospice for their loving care over the past several months. No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama.
