James C. "Jim" Westergard, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 4, 2018, at his home. Jim was born September 1, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to David Lloyd "DL" Westergard and Dorothy Scherb Westergard. He grew up and attended schools in the area and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1959. He also attended New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI), Boise College, and Weber State where he studied Business and Management. On August 18, 1962, he married the love of his life, Jean Mills, in Idaho Falls. Together they raised three children: Janie, David, and Lynett. Jim and Jean made their home in Pocatello and later Idaho Falls, where Jim owned and operated Westergard Mayflower Moving and Storage for more than 30 years. He was an excellent businessman, was involved in Rotary Club and in the Elks Club. He also helped to develop the commercial area around Lindsey Boulevard. Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing, photography, flying planes, skiing, welding, being in the outdoors, and was an avid golfer. He really was a "fixer of all things." Most of all he loved spending time with his grandson. Jim is survived by his daughter, Janie (Glen Lozito) Westergard of Gilbert, AZ; daughter, Lynett (Chris Gibson) Westergard of Tucson, AZ; sister, Linda (Tom) Strickland of Evergreen, CO; sister, Mary Lou Schuldt of Fairfield, IA; and grandchild, Michael Gibson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; and son, David Westergard. He had a quick wit and a generous soul. He will be missed. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church (325 Elm Street). The family will visit with friends 12-12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association (https://donatenow.heart.org/)
