Jim Cavanaugh - 01/23/2003 Jim Cavanaugh - 01/23/2003 JIM CAVANAUGH IDAHO FALLS, ID -- James Virgel “Jim” Cavanaugh, 67, of Idaho Falls, died January 23, 2003, at his home. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. He was born September 15, 1935, at Callao, Missouri, to Johnnie Willie Cavanaugh and Alta Snodgrass Cavanaugh. He attended several different schools, including Dubois and Lincoln Elementary Schools, and Bonneville High School. He served in the United States Marines Corps as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict. He married Patricia Lou Woods May 19, 1957, in Darksville, Missouri. She preceded him in death June 14, 1998. He worked for 20 years as Audio/Visual Maintenance for School District #91 until his retirement. Prior to that, he was a television repairman and a sheepherder. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed archery hunting, four-wheeling, horseback riding, spending time in the mountains, knife making and woodworking. Surviving are:Daughter: Barbara Handy, Twin Falls, IDDaughter: Betty Taylor, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Linda Bateman, Idaho Falls, IDSon: Danny R. Cavanaugh, Idaho Falls, IDSon: James J. Cavanaugh, Idaho Falls, ID 8 Grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by both parents and his wife. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2003, at the Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. and for one hour prior to services, both at Wood East Side Chapel. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
