Jesus Rico Cervantes, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 3, 2015, at The Gables of Ammon Assisted Living Center of natural causes. He was under the care of his family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Jesus was born August 25, 1925, in Michoacan, Mexico, to Lucas Cervantes and Maria Luisa Rico Cervantes. He grew up in Mexico and later moved to Idaho, where he’s lived the last twenty years.
In 1946 he married Adelaida Barragan in Michoacan, Mexico. To this union were born eight children, Pedro, Mario, Maria, Leo, Trinidad, Refugio, Maria D Jesus, and Rafael. Jesus farmed in Mexico, then worked at Reed’s Dairy and at various potato processing plants in Idaho.
He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Jesus enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Jesus is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Adelaida Cervantes of Idaho Falls, ID;
son, Pedro (Genoveve, deceased) Cervantes of Idaho Falls, ID,
son, Mario (Herminia) Cervantes of Blackfoot, ID,
daughter, Maria (Michael, deceased) Jacobsen of Idaho Falls, ID,
son, Leo (Gloria) Cervantes of Idaho Falls, ID,
son, Trinidad (Dianne, deceased) Cervantes of Shelley, ID,
son, Refugio (Jan) Cervantes of Idaho Falls, ID,
daughter, Maria D Jesus Cervantes (Jose Gutierrez) of Tremonton, UT,
son, Rafael (Natlie) Cervantes of Shelley, ID,
brother, Alfredo Cervantes of Michoacan, Mexico,
sister, Carman Cervantes of Michoacan, Mexico.
31 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter, Tulip Cervantes.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
