Jessie Valone Fullmer Nelson, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 14, 2013, at her home from a short illness incident to age. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Valone was born October 30, 1923, in Driggs, Idaho, to Walter Leigh Fullmer and Addie Harris Fullmer. She grew up and attended school in Driggs, Idaho, later attending Teton High and graduating from Logan High School. After High School graduation Valone attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Valone began at a young age working in her parent’s grocery store and that led to always working hard and dedicating herself to serving others.
After a whirlwind courtship, Guy Thompson Nelson purposed to Valone on Christmas Eve 1942 and they were married February 10, 1943, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
Valone and Guy raised eight wonderful children and this has grown into a great legacy. Valone was a great cook and invited everyone into their home. The Nelson home was always a welcome greeting and entertainment place for the neighborhood and Valone was always a great hostess. Valone worked for the U. S. Forest Service for many years until her retirement at the age of 60.
Valone was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions - but her true love was working as chorister in the primary. In Valone’s retirement years, at the age of 75, she was called as YW President and this developed into a much closer relationship between Guy and Valone and the youth of the Ward.
Valone loved to play games with the family, jigsaw puzzles, singing and - more than anything - spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Guy & Valone were very close to Guy’s family and appreciate the love and support of all those siblings and extended family.
Survivors include her children,
