Jerold David Frandsen, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 21, 2025, at Brightwork Living in American Fork, Utah.
Jerry was born March 8, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Floyd Isaac David Frandsen and Eunice LuDean Hammer Frandsen.
In his teens, Jerry became interested in morse code as a hobby. He enlisted in the Navy right after graduating Idaho Falls High School in 1957. He served in Yokosuka, Japan, from January 17, 1958 to May 29, 1962. His position in the Navy using two way radio communications and morse code led him to his lifelong career and hobby of HAM radio. He spent much of his time involved in that arena, communicating with others all over the world. His radio career consisted of repair and maintenance of two way radios with Miniver Radio Communications. He also worked with Clark Communications in Blackfoot.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an accomplished bowler, involved in many leagues and tournaments. He enjoyed going to the family cabin in Island Park, fishing, boating, and spending time with the family. He kept up with the politics of the present day.
Jerry is survived by his sister, Jenny Lee Walton of American Fork, UT; niece, Lisa (Alan) Dayley of Lehi, UT; and niece, Laura (Blayne) Soulé of Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Larry C. Walton.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Iona Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Navy Honor Guard.
