Jennifer Michelle O'Brien

Jennifer Michelle O’Brien, 56, of Idaho Falls, passed away on February 27, 2026, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from complications of pneumonia.

Jennifer was born on November 6, 1969, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Michael Forrest O’Brien and Patricia Diann Ward. She was raised in Idaho Falls where she attended local schools and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.

Jennifer proudly served her country in the United States Army as a Corporal in the 82nd Airborne Division and was a Veteran of Operation Desert Storm. Her strength, resilience, and deep sense of loyalty were evident throughout her life.

Above all, Jennifer was a devoted and loving mother. Her daughter was the center of her world and her greatest pride. She adored her nieces and nephews and cherished the special bond she shared with them. Over the past four years, she formed meaningful friendships with her caregivers, who became an important part of her life. She found joy in shopping days, fresh pedicures, and any opportunity to be near the beach. She also loved her sweet kitty, Jayne, who brought her comfort and companionship.

Jennifer is survived by her daughter, Sydney Piantes of San Diego, CA; her mother, Patricia (Kery) Secrist of Swan Valley, ID; her father, Michael (Doris) O'Brien of Idaho Falls, ID; her brother, Oz (Tosh) Wilcox of Washington; her sisters, Angie (James) Brewer of Idaho Falls, ID, and Shannon (Travis Spurgeon) O’Brien of Idaho Falls, ID; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Madisen, Brody, Heather, Braden, Jacob, Kyler, Briar, Luke, and including her great niece and nephews, Maverick, Reese, and Harlee.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. Military Honors will be performed at 2 p.m. by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
